Why Indian cricket drive Huge fans

Can you remember the dark night of 26.11.2009? The whole of India didn’t sleep; the nation cried and mourned together that night. Now try to remember the night when the whole country laugh and celebrate together. It is 2nd April, 2011; India won the World cup final. India lived one more sleepless night and celebrated it. Apart from any natural or manmade calamities, cricket is the only subject that can bring India together to scream, laugh, cry and celebrate.

India is a country where people not only play or watch cricket but here they live cricket. Cricket here is considered as a divine game and the players as GOD! The country worships them, most of the parents and close relatives select names for their new born according to the name of their favorite cricket players, young boys follow the fashion and style of the cricketers and the girls dream of having a boyfriend like ‘Yuvraj Singh’ or ‘Rahul Dravid’. This may seem weird to others but the Indian cricket fans consider these actions as their gratitude and love to their favorite cricket players. There are houses and shops in India where the pictures of these cricketers are worshiped daily with great devotion and dedication.

It is believed by a section of people that the media is responsible for this huge fan following of Indian cricket. They even think that media makes unnecessary hype about this game to make it popular. But the real fact is that media doesn’t bother to encourage anything that does not deserve any attention. If there is nothing in the game or if the performance of the Indian cricket team was very poor, then no media would bother to create publicity for the same.

People of India love to watch cricket, for the natural excitement of the game, for the world famous players that Indian team have, and for the reputed position the National Team holds in the international circuit of cricket. No other game can obtain the hype and attention which this game of cricket has. So the attention of media towards this game is quite normal. And the more media discusses the game, the more people become eager to know about the latest condition of Indian cricket. So it is true that media has a great influence in making cricket popular in India but there are certain, positive reasons behind this action of media.

Secondly cricket is the highest paying game in India. That also makes the young generation more curious and interested about the game of cricket. They also aspire to be a part of this game and want to earn fame and money like ‘Sachin’ or ‘Sourav’.

The reputation and honor that cricket has given to this country is unforgettable. Cricket deserves this kind of madness from the Indian cricket fans for due reasons. Thus, whether it is an one day international (ODI), regional matches, test cricket, T-20 or IPL; the fans of cricket are always ready to go beyond their vocal cord limit for their favorite team and players.
